Litter League

The Litter League is a science-based community outreach organization on a mission to end plastic pollution in built and natural environments. We launched in July 2026 and look forward to growing our membership with students at all levels, researchers, community members, staff and more. The Litter League was founded by Dr. Zoie Diana, Assistant Professor, Environmental Science Department at Barnard College, Columbia University in NYC. Our Mission: Education, Research & Outreach to End Plastic Pollution in the Environment Our Goals -Increase education and awareness of plastic pollution to all communities -Reduce litter in the environment -Prevent new litter from entering the environment -Collaborate with stakeholders to inform evidence- and science-based policy and management -Share lessons learned openly and widely, inspiring others worldwide -Provide training and leadership opportunities to students and community members Our Vision: A world free of macro- and microplastics in the environment. Until then, we envision an engaged community working to prevent and reduce litter in their environment.
